A: No. Scribe & Pen provides paralegal services exclusively to licensed attorneys. We are a professional support service that works directly under the supervision of legal counsel. Because we are not a law firm and our team members are not licensed attorneys, we are legally and ethically prohibited from providing legal advice to the public. This policy is in place to maintain the highest standards of professional conduct and prevent the unauthorized practice of law.
However, if you require assistance with other writing solutions that are not legally related, we invite you to explore our comprehensive writing and content or research and editing services. For any legal needs, we highly recommend consulting with a licensed legal professional.
A: Our firm is committed to being a foremost leader in the ethical use of technology, navigating the ever-changing legal landscape by constantly attending industry conferences and staying current with the latest case law. In strict adherence to ABA Formal Opinion 512 and Model Rule 1.6, we utilize Westlaw’s Co-Counsel and paid, enterprise-grade Generative AI. We specifically invest in these private, business-grade environments as they have been distinguished in landmark case law as the defining distinction between discoverable and non-discoverable use. Unlike public-facing tools, our systems are siloed and secure, ensuring our work product remains protected and is not subject to the same discovery risks as publicly trained models. This approach allows us to provide a more efficient, cost-effective service while maintaining the highest level of data integrity.
Our process is defined by several non-negotiable standards:
Verified Human-in-the-Loop: We never start a draft or research using AI. Our process begins with human logic and manual research; only after our positions and findings are established are they fed into our Generative AI to assist with the drafting process. We act as the final authority on every task. We never rely on AI for final case law analysis or the drafting of final legal documents; it is used strictly as a supplemental tool to ensure we start with real facts and human-led strategy.
Meticulous Verification: Every citation, quote, and page number is manually verified using Westlaw to ensure absolute accuracy. All output is checked thoroughly throughout the process to ensure nothing has been altered, and final human verification is guaranteed before anything reaches your inbox. You will never find a hallucinated case, citation, quote, or legal analysis in our work.
Candor and Collaboration: We are always available to discuss our methodology with attorneys to ensure they are prepared for any inquiries from judges regarding AI oversight. Under Model Rule 3.3, an attorney is responsible for the accuracy of every filing; we provide the transparency necessary for you to confidently state that a human has "independently reviewed and verified" all AI-assisted content.
Your Choice, Always: We recognize that some clients or firms may prefer to avoid AI entirely. Having practiced for years before these tools existed, we have never lost the fundamental skills, rigorous manual research, and hand-crafted drafting that define our profession. If you are uncomfortable or uncertain about the use of AI, we are more than happy and fully capable of foregoing its use entirely.
A: At Scribe and Pen, we specialize in delivering comprehensive legal research that is both meticulous and tailored to your specific needs. One prime example of our expertise is in conducting thorough case law research. If you're an attorney preparing for an intricate litigation case, we dive deep into various legal databases to find precedents that support your argument. Our team examines judicial opinions, statutes, and regulatory provisions to provide a well-rounded analysis.
Our legal research is thorough and precise. For example, if you're working on a complex motion to dismiss, we would delve into federal and state case law, statutes, and relevant legal articles. We don't just find cases; we analyze them to identify key precedents and arguments that directly support your position. The result is a comprehensive memo that summarizes our findings and highlights the most relevant legal authority, providing you with a solid foundation for your legal strategy.
Our thorough research not only saves you valuable time but also equips you with a solid foundation to build your case, ensuring you approach the courtroom with confidence and compelling legal arguments. Scribe and Pen is committed to your success by providing the legal excellence you need.
A: Our process for assisting with the discovery phase is both systematic and thorough. We begin by conducting a comprehensive review of the case and the opposing party's documents to understand your specific needs and objectives. Based on this review, we collaborate with you to draft strategic discovery requests, such as interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission, that are tailored to your case.
We also play a critical role in drafting responses to discovery to ease the burden on your legal team. Additionally, after reviewing the opposing party's discovery responses, we can assist in drafting demand letters by outlining deficiencies and aligning them with the relevant rules of procedure and statutes in your jurisdiction. Our goal is to streamline this often-burdensome process, ensuring all deadlines are met and that you have a clear, organized understanding of the information gathered.
A: At Scribe and Pen, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality writing services efficiently. Our turnaround time is tailored to the specific nature of the work.
For Paralegal Services: We typically complete legal projects within a 10-day turnaround. However, we understand that sometimes your legal deadlines may be urgent, and we are fully equipped to expedite any process to meet critical timelines, ensuring deadlines never sneak up on you.
For Writing & Content: After an initial consultation to discuss your specific needs and goals, we collaborate with you to create a customized content calendar. This detailed schedule outlines all deliverables and deadlines, ensuring a predictable workflow that suits your needs and keeps your content pipeline consistent.
For both services, we include a standard number of revision rounds in our initial quote. Our goal is to exceed your expectations on the first draft, but we understand that feedback is crucial for a perfect final product. We work closely with you to incorporate any revisions efficiently.
A: At Scribe & Pen, confidentiality and security are our highest priorities. We adhere to strict ethical guidelines and professional standards to protect all client information. For digital documents, we use secure, encrypted platforms for all communication and document sharing. All of our team members sign comprehensive confidentiality agreements, and we follow rigorous protocols to ensure your sensitive legal documents and case details remain private and protected at all times. We also routinely destroy all documents at the end of any contract, or at your request, to ensure complete data security and peace of mind.
A: We verify research by consulting authoritative sources, including official court databases, statutes, and administrative rules. Each citation is checked for updates or amendments and cross-referenced with multiple sources to confirm accuracy. Legal reasoning is assessed by comparing the conclusions in the document against governing law and relevant facts, ensuring that every argument is logically supported and applicable to the matter at hand.
A: We use standardized templates for motions, contracts, pleadings, and other substantive documents. Drafts are reviewed line by line to confirm proper formatting, section organization, and consistent terminology. Citations and references are checked against verified sources, and reasoning is reviewed for clarity and logical flow. Any inconsistencies, errors, or formatting issues are corrected before the document is finalized, producing reliable and uniform output across all work.
A: Documents are structured from the beginning, starting with intake and organization of all relevant materials, including evidence, exhibits, and prior filings. Drafts are prepared in clearly defined sections reflecting procedural or analytical requirements. Research findings and supporting evidence are integrated into the content, and the draft is reviewed for completeness, logical flow, and accuracy. Final verification ensures citations, formatting, and legal reasoning align correctly, resulting in a document ready for attorney review or submission.
A: We maintain accuracy by organizing complex materials with clear labeling, indexing, and cross-referencing. Facts, evidence, and legal authorities are continuously checked against source materials to ensure correct application. Drafts are carefully compared to underlying research and supporting documentation to identify errors or inconsistencies. Detailed records of research, document revisions, and decisions are maintained to provide transparency, accountability, and a reliable audit trail.
